Sad but true

HOMEMADE DISH DETERGENT

I found this recipe on Pinterest
DIFFICULTY: Easy
TIME CONSUMED: approx. 10 minutes
CHANGES MADE: I cut the recipe in thirds
WOULD I MAKE THIS AGAIN?  No :(

Here is the recipe I used split into thirds: 1 box Borax (4lbs 12 oz or 76 oz ) (2.15 kg) found in the detergent isle, 1 box Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda (55 oz or 3 lbs 7 oz) found in the detergent isle
24 packages of unsweetened lemonade drink mix, like kool-aid.
RESULTS: Okay, I am a totally positive person. So it is sad for me to report this one to you today. I am willing to try other suggestions, but at this point, total bust. I made the homemade dish detergent and I came out with dirty dishes. Now, I have to say, I am not the mom who rinses the dishes REALLY well before I load them, so that may make a difference. I also tried two different rinse agents. One was Lemon Shine, and the other was straight vinegar. My dishes did not come out clean, and my glass was foggy.

Suggestions and or ideas would be welcomed as I HATE paying so much for dish detergent!!

Homemade laundry detergent. The question on everyones mind...does it work?

I found this recipe on Pinterest
DIFFICULTY: Medium
TIME CONSUMED: approx. 1 hour CHANGES MADE: I cut the recipe in thirds
WOULD I MAKE THIS AGAIN? YES!

Results: So I love the smell of clean laundry! However, I hate the cost of laundry detergent, and we go through it so fast! One of my favorite things about this recipe was the smell of the Fels-Naptha soap, it literally smells like clean. Also, when the math is done, it comes out to approximatley 1 cent per load of laundry, not sure about you, but I LOVE the sound of that! I did cut the recipe into thirds; I didn’t want to make a bunch of it in case I did not like it. I also didn’t have a 2 or 5 gallon bucket. It gets our clothes clean, and they smell clean.

THINGS I MAY DO DIFFERENTLY: I will probably still add fabric softner, not because the detergent didn’t make my clothes soft, I just love the smell of it!

BE WARNED: The texture is a little different, so don’t let that freak you out. It also does not bubble, in detergents bought at the store, that is added for your benefit, but doesn’t benefit the laundry. Also, MAKE SURE you let the Fels-naptha melt!

No Bake Oreo Cookies and Cream Bars

I found these on Pinterest.
DIFFICULTY: Easy
TIME CONSUMED: 15 minutes +10 for cooling
CHANGES MADE: none
WOULD I MAKE THEM AGAIN? Yes, if I added rice krispies

Results: First, I LOVE OREO'S!! So I was VERY excited to try this recipe! These were yummy, but very rich. No one in my family ate more than a couple bites. My family requested that next time I make them I add rice crispies.

Happy Baking!http://sweetpeaskitchen.com/2011/06/15/grand-cayman-no-bake-cookies-and-cream-bars/dsc_0774-3/

Dude, these are so good...I'm still dreaming of them!

Double Crunch Honey Garlic Pork Chops
http://rockrecipes.blogspot.com/2011/04/double-crunch-honey-garic-pork-chops.html

FOUND: on Pinterst
DIFFICULTY LEVEL:  Medium - reason; prep time and fry time
TIME CONSUMED: 45 minutes
CHANGES WE MADE: We used Italian seasonings instead of the thyme and sage.
WOULD I DO IT AGAIN: OH YES!

RESULTS: Okay, so ours didn't look as pretty as these! My husband did most of the work on ours, and he had a hard time keeping the breading on. We would also suggest a bit less pepper, especially if you have children. The sauce was amazing! We served brown rice and steamed veggies on the side. I am not exaggerating when I say these are by far the best pork chops I have had, and I am including restaurants in that comment.
These were seriously delicious! I would definatley recommend them,
and my family would agree!

A little hello from me

I admit that I used to snicker at the idea of me starting a blog. I admittedly LOVE to talk, but didn’t really think I had much to “share” with too many others.  I discovered Pinterest through my friend Stacie (also my son’s AMAZING 1st grade teacher), and an invite from another friend.  I quickly became an addict. I have always loved crafts and projects, and realized after long hours of pinning that it was pointless to pin and never try anything I pinned. So here we are. You will have to forgive me, I am not a writer, I am optomistic to a fault, and I don’t have a serious bone in my body, so I hope you can follow. I also hope this will save other moms some time and money. I have tried a few pinterest projects and have had great success. I have also had some major fails, which cost me time and money, two things I don’t like to loose.  So let’s begin!
